There has always been the debate among Ghanaians about which artiste is more popular than which and one factor that cannot be taken out when considering artiste popularity, is the popularity of their music videos. YouTube provides a platform for artistes to showcase their work and it is very effective as a marketing method . We have therefore compiled a list of the most popular music videos on YouTube thus the most popular artistes either in Ghana or outside or both.We only included artistes who currently live in Ghana and have Ghana as their mainstream market ( Meaning we excluded Fuse ODG, who could have single-handedly taken more than 3 places on the list). Some Artistes appear more than once and it makes it safe to say they are the Kings of Ghanaian Music on YouTube. Lets start from he bottom:

#10.     1.090 Million Views: Special Someone -Sarkodie ft. Burna Boy & AKA

Not a surprising kick off, Ghanaian HipHop/Afro Pop  and BET Award winning rapper  Sarkodie comes in at 10th place with his single ‘Special Someone’ featuring Burna Boy and AKA with 1.090 million views.

#9.   1.406 Million Views: Odo Pa Ft. Baby Jet and Kofi Kinaata

The man Underfire and now apparently ‘underwater’ comes in at number 9 with his hit single and second with best pal and soon to be eighth most paid footballer in the world, Baby Jet and Fante rapper Kofi Kinaata, titled ‘Odo Pa’ meaning Good Love. It’s good to know his disappearance has not affected his popularity.

#8.     1.528 Million Views: Love – R2Bees

The BET Awards nominated Duo R2Bees comes in at 8th place with their hit single ‘Love’. The catchy tune produced by Killbeatz is so complicated that it is sounds simple. Put Mugees and Paedae on such beat and it goes viral. That’s R2bees for you.

#7.      1.549 Million Views : Seihor – Castro ft. D-Black

Castro comes in again at number 7 with hit collabo track Seihor with D-Black. The song was produced by DJ Breezy and video directed by Kwame B. Ohene. Is castro really missing at all or he is it his being missing that is doing the magic? But there is no doubt that this song would have been the hit it is whether he was here or not.

#6.    1.610 Million Views : Dancehall King – Shatta Wale

The self proclaimed King of Ghanaian Dancehall Music, Shatta Wale formerly known as Bandana comes in at 6th place with his self praising track ‘DanceHall King’ with 1.610 million views. Not bad for someone so active on social media. At least his fans are not letting him down.

#5.     2.073 Million Views : Adult Music – Kwabena Kwabena ft. Samini

Music for adults which does not really contain anything explicit by singer and lyricist Kwabena Kwabena featuring dancehall/reggae artiste Samini titled ‘Adult Music’, comes in at number five. The video clearly show a lot about love (or lust, we’re not sure) and the song itself is catchy and makes yo want to move your body to the beat.

#4.    2.301 Million Views : Akayida (Boys Abre) – Guru

This video is by no doubt a must watch, especially since it includes the comedian Kwadwo Nkansah a.k.a. LilWin in it. This could account for the number of views for the video because no other Guru video has nearly as much views as this one. Guru’s ‘Akayida (Boys Abre)’ track and now popular street anthem come in at number 4.

#3.     2.304 Million Views : Pon Di Ting – Sarkodie ft. Banky W

Sarkodie’s ‘Pon Di Ting’ featuring Nigerian singer Banky W comes in at number 3 with 2.304 Million views which makes i very close to Guru’s ‘Akayida (Boys Abre) which had 2.301 Miliion views. The video which is in High Definition was shot in South Africa and directed by Sesan. Sarkodie is still proving he is going for the big numbers and making Ghana proud.

#2.      7.209 Million Views : Slow Down – R2Bees ft. WizKid

The award winning duo R2Bees takes the second place with ‘Slow Down’ featuring Nigerian award winning singer WizKid ,who by the way has racked more views on YouTube than any other artiste on his list (not surprising since he’s a hit maker from the most populated county in Africa, so…duhhh). This video’s views is thrice the number of the views on Pon Di Tin which makes it an awesome feat.

#1.   9.968 Million Views: Adonai (Remix) – Sarkodie ft. Castro

Bring together two people who have already got two spots each on the most watched videos list and you should expect nothing less than the most watched of all. Sarkodie collaborates with Castro for the remix of his song ‘Adonai’ and is the most watched Ghanaian Music Video on YouTube racking 9.968 Million Views and the highest any Ghanaian living in Ghana has ever reached. He does have a lot to brag about and he still has the right to.
